The doctors at Advanced Pediatrics received their training from the best training programs in the United States. Dr. Lavin's training at Harvard and board certification in the specialty of newborn medicine brings an unusually high level of medical expertise to the general practice of pediatrics. Dr. Hertzer’s training at the nation’s capitol also brings an unusually high level of medical expertise to our families.

This helps explain why Advanced Pediatrics has established such mutually respected collaborative relationships with the best pediatric specialists in our region and ready responses from specialists around the country in its work towards providing the best possible medical care for your child.

Advanced Pediatrics maintains its sharp level of expertise by continually reviewing the world’s medical literature. Of course this allows us to be aware on important new developments, and just as importantly, it allows us to constantly re-assess the way we diagnose and treat.

As part of our effort to make sure you are getting the best care medical science can offer at any time, we accept no items or visits from any pharmaceutical company.

Together, our ongoing review of the medical literature and our avoidance of propaganda from the drug companies assures you that our recommendations are based on science, not marketing, and that our recommendations improve as science progresses.

Sue LaGanke
Sue has worked at Advanced Pediatrics since its opening, but has worked with Dr. Lavin for over 20 years.  Sue organizes the clinical side of the practice, making sure all medical supplies are in good supply and fresh, as well as  rooming, measuring children and adolescents, ordering supplies and medications, doing hearing and vision screens, lab tests, and preparing immunizations.  She also works with Samantha to ensure appointments with referrals and information for referrals and tests, are conducted promptly.  Sue is an important part of what makes Advanced Pediatrics a place where the medical care delivered is effective and timely. Friendly skill, knowledge, and smooth operation offered to families help make Sue a welcome part of the practice for all families.
Sam Vernak

Sam has been with Advanced Pediatrics since December of 2016 and loves coming to work each day. Pleasant and efficient, Sam makes sure that our patient’s needs are met over the phone and in the office with care and empathy. Sam is a certified dietetic technician (DTR) and graduated from The Ohio State University in August of 2011. Sam took a break from the dietetic field to work with Advanced Pediatrics and we are happy to have her as a part of our team. When she’s not at work Sam enjoys spending time with her 8 year old son Logan and crocheting.

Krystal Bartrung

I have been working in the medical field since 2013 when I graduated from Bryant & Stratton College with my A.A.S. degree in medical administrative assisting. I have been working with Advanced Pediatrics since January 2018 and I couldn’t be happier with my position as their medical biller and assisting Sam with the front office duties. I enjoy helping families figure out their bill and helping them in any way I can. I enjoy it at this office so much that I have switched my son from his previous pediatrician to see Dr. Lavin. In my time away from the office I enjoy spending as much time I can with my husband, step-son, and son whether it is hanging out at home or taking my Chuck E Cheese obsessed son there to play. I look forward to many more years at the practice.
